Drowning Out

music hangs thick in the air
It floats and fills the room
it replaces the oxygen
and drowns the doubts of the day.
it’s both heavy and light
it’s soft but i cry
i breathe it in ’til
my thoughts are bigger than me.

it crawls in my ears
on its highs and its lows
it drains out and
crowds out the noise
the clamor and clang
of a day gone awry
it’s a song with a
melody clearer than me.
