55 Miles High

she flies late at night
under a sable sky
in that nocturnal haven
her wings stretched wide
under cover of darkness
sheer faith is enough
and earthly anguish melts
into the black ink above
a sky brimmed with grace
bends the stars to their knees
and she flies in the thermosphere
on a trust that sets her free
