where god resides

lacing the sky with love

These stones, worn to smooth now,
have recorded greater things than us.
Grace, they say, grace exists
and it’s written in our curves.
Grace awaits every ragged soul,
let it settle down on you.
It’s in the verse and in the poem
and written in these stones.
It’s grace you seek and grace we bring
straight from the hand of god.

These birds fluff and snuggle
on their branch at dusk
and hum lullabies for the hurried.
Patience, they sing, patience
may seem to belong to the sky
but let it rest and nest with you.
It’s in the verse and in the poem
and written in these wings
It’s patience you seek
and patience we bring
straight from the hand of god.

These leaves that flutter in the breeze,
they murmur prayers of hope.
Faith, they whisper,
faith returns to us
stunning shades of green.
We whither and drop
and let our veins turn to rot
knowing we’ll shade you in spring.
It’s in the verse and in the poem
and written in these leaves.
It’s faith you seek
and faith we bring
straight from the hand of god.

These winds blow their fury
as they swirl and lift the dust
damage is done and just as quick
a calm settles in the air.
Forgiveness, they say
forgiveness is yours
when you’ve blown everything apart.
It’s in the verse and in the poem
and written in these winds
It’s forgiveness you seek
and forgiveness we bring
straight from the hand of god.

These nights fill with endless stars
to light the way
for wandering hearts.
Love, they say, love belongs
to everyone, and everyone it holds.
Darkness settles
on every nook and cranny
but love shines down
from every corner of the heavens.
Let desperate days drift away
and fall into the arms of night.
It’s in the verse and in the poem
and written between the days
It’s love you seek and love we bring
straight from the hand of god.
