When Life Encounters You

…imagine walking under a tree. a tiny chirp draws your eyes up just as a small blue egg is tipped over the side of a nest by an adventurous cat out on a limb…the egg tumbles rapidly, end over end but miraculously it drops right into your hand with a soft plop, still wholly intact. the guilty cat swishes off in annoyance, while instinctually you drag over a fallen log and prop it against the trunk, then climb up to tuck the egg back in its bed, nestled in the crook of a branch. weeks later, as robins chirp in your backyard, you marvel at the timing of it.
